What is something homeowners have to deal with that you want to fix?:

I’d like to fix the general industry sales tactic that is requiring customers unnecessary amounts of regular service visits for the sake of guaranteed steady sales. Honesty has been selling our units pretty well so far!

What do you do at LaChance Water Filtration?

Everyone basically shares the responsibility of “do whatever needs to be done” here, but for the most part I design the company’s graphics, write up and record radio ads, general marketing things. I’ll also write up estimates for customers, assist customers with more complicated questions in our showroom, and help anyone around the office when need be. I’m also a slave to whatever the owner tells me to do, there’s that too.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

I have an associate’s degree in web graphic design, worked at a water bottling company, and have an extensive history in machine shops giving me a background in troubleshooting and learning complex systems. It helped me learn as a field technician before moving into the office as we grew so I can use my degree for the benefit of LaChance water while still having all the knowledge I learned since when I started.

What do you like about working at LaChance Water filtration?

I like how everyone here has a voice. If you voice your concerns to your boss, it is heard and discussed among your peers. I like how everyone is assigned in the areas they are not only the most comfortable in and prefer, but also in ways that utilize their skillsets to the best of their ability.

What’s your background?

I’ve always been a geek. Interested in video games, superheroes, dungeons and dragons and the like. After looking into related career fields that I could apply my interests to, I realized they tend to be more artistic careers than anything else. In this pursuit, I realized that I wanted to keep my work life separated from my personal life, and keep those interests as hobbies that I can work on at my own pace instead of on a deadline. Through manufacturing, I basically fell into this career by chance, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to have a job that’s so fulfilling that I fell into it completely fortuitously.

What are the values that drive you?

I have a responsibility to those around me that drives me. Everyone needs to help each other out in any career field to operate as a proper team. This same value applies to relationships outside of work too, and the way I see it, there doesn’t need to be an exception between work life and personal life when it comes to motivational values. Work hard play hard!

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

It’s probably obvious by now. Reading comics, playing video games, watching movies, and whatever creative project that I can latch onto to stay busy at home too such as board game design and 3D computer graphics modeling. Whatever you think of when you think of what a geek does outside of work is probably going to be right!
